ATHENS MUSIC PROJECT

Hello Athens Based Musician(s).

I’m currently putting together a picture book (currently under the title “Athens Music Project”) of Athens bands and musicians. I’m looking to shoot about 20-30 bands/musicians that are currently up and coming, established or even legends in the Athens music scene. My goal is to have it completed by the end of 2011.

The Deal:

1. Your band must be legit. By legit, I mean, you must be playing live shows actively and be able to prove to me that you are OR have a great deal of quality recorded material.
2. I need to like your music. Don’t worry, I’m not a Nazi and I love all genres of music, but if I think your mediocre and frankly, there’s nothing unique or special about your music, image, ect… You won’t be in the book.
3. The photoshoot it NOT “your” photoshoot. The photoshoot is for me and my book. You are absolutely welcome to the images I make and can even use them for publicity purposes and advertising, but ultimately, the shoot is mine. Your ideas are obviously welcome and I may even use them, but do not sign up for this thinking that you’ve just won a free-for-all photoshoot.
4. All appropriate legal paperwork (model release) must be signed by ALL members of every band for a shoot to even occur.
5. When a shoot is scheduled, all persons involved in said shoot MUST arrive for the shoot on the day it is scheduled unless there is an Act of God, someone dies, or I cancel it. There will be absolutely no forgiveness in this matter, unless I think there is some reasonable explanation. My time is valuable, so if you waste it, please don’t come asking me to reschedule. Get your act together before hand. You can make time to rehearse, play shows and do whatever else you find worth your while… you can make time for this.
6. You will not be paid for the shoot. You will not be paid royalties for the book. You will not receive ANY compensation what-so-ever. Why? Because neither will I. I am making this book as a personal side project and it will be available for purchase online, but my margin of profit is slim to none. Sometimes, it’s nice to make something for the sake of making it. Kudos for making art together.
7. Last but not least, you must fill out the application to be considered. I will not be asking you, chasing you down or begging you to do this (unless you are Kevin Barnes). Show me that you want this. Be persistent, but don’t annoying me.
